Questions and answers

How high is Thorong La?

5,416 m. It is a long day starting before dawn, so Manang acclimatisation is essential.

Why use a helicopter on this trek?

It removes road and low-altitude stages, so you spend your time on the best part of the trail.

What is the best season?

Spring and autumn. Pass conditions can change quickly in snow.

Is this suitable for beginners?

It is moderate to challenging. Prior trekking is recommended but not required.

The full Annapurna Circuit used to take three weeks, partly because of long road stages. This version flies to the start of the high section, spends the time on the best trail between Chame and Muktinath, crosses Thorong La and returns by air.

You cross one of the highest trekking passes in the world, visit the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site of Muktinath and walk through Manang's high desert landscape, with views of Annapurna I-III, Gangapurna and Dhaulagiri.
