Moderate. Days are 4-6 hours with limited altitude gain, but wind and dust can be tiring.

Lo Manthang at about 3,840 m; passes on the route reach around 4,000 m.

Upper Mustang is one of the few places in Nepal that still looks like old Tibet: red cliffs, whitewashed villages and prayer flags. This trek walks into the kingdom over several days and flies out from Lo Manthang, saving three days of retracing the trail.

The terrain is dry and wind-blown, with long but gentle days, so it suits people who want culture and landscape rather than steep climbs.
